Last Saturday, we started our day with decorating our Christmas tree! It is always fun to get out all the decorations. These we haven't seen for two years, having been left in Turkey last year.

After decorating our tree, we made our way to the Town Hall (only a stone's throw from our house). With many others from the town, we followed Santa in a police car up the main road of the village. This little parade was the beginning of the lighting ceremony. In the center of town was a small group of vendors, selling everything from burgers to homemade crafts. And then we all gathered to sing a few Christmas carols, to pray and to count down... 12...11...10...9... 8... At the group call of "ONE", the lights of the town were switched on. It is very fascinating for us to live in a country where Christmas is celebrated so freely!
